Advent Calendar

Our project for November and December is a Christmas Advent Calendar. The calendar measures approximately 31.5 inches tall (not including the hanging cord) and 20.5 inches wide (not including the dowel). It is made of a white cotton fabric and has vinyl lettering. There are 24 pockets, each measuring about 5 inches wide and 4 inches tall. The calendar can be made without the vinyl letting and serve as an organizational tool. The vinyl lettering is not included in the cost of class. You may choose to have me provide the vinyl lettering for an extra $5. This class is for kids who have completed my Intro to Sewing or have equivalent experience.

Class Dates, Times and Location:

Class will be held once a week for six weeks. Please take note of the dates of class. There are three weeks in November and three weeks in December*. There will be no class the week of Thanksgiving.

I will offer after school classes and homeschool classes.

Class will be held at the Bobbin Basics studio at 210 S Main St in Springboro.

*A special note about the week of November 17-19th: Set up for Christmas in Springboro will block some of the side streets including E Market St. Main Street and the back alley behind my studio will still be accessible.

Students will provide their own materials. A materials list is below. If you would like me to provide the sewing materials for your student there is an additional $15 fee. This includes the fabric, thread, dowel, binding, and cord. It does not include the vinyl lettering. The vinyl lettering is an additional $5. If you would like me to provide the materials plus the vinyl the total cost for all supplies is $20. There will be a place in this sign up to specify what materials you would like me to provide.

Materials for the Advent Calendar:

2 yards of cotton fabric (avoid anything thick, sheer, stretchy or velvety)

thread to match fabric

2 yards of 1/4 inch double fold bias binding to match cotton fabric

1 yard of 3mm macrame cord or other cord for hanging

1 dowel rod no less than 22" long and approximately 1/2" in diameter

vinyl letters (optional for an additional fee)

Some children need more time than others to complete a project. I've tried to estimate the amount of time the average student needs to finish the advent calendar but my estimation could be off. If on the last day of class your child has not completed their project they may need to stay after to complete it. If your child needs more than 30 minutes to complete their project on the last day of class we may need to schedule a make up date. Children who complete their project early can have Free Sew time.

If your child is sick please do not bring them to class and contact me to set up a make up class.

I usually take photos of kids in class to post to my social media platforms: Facebook and Instagram. If you do not want your child's photo taken please let me know.
